Kadenze, a MOOC platform optimized for Arts Education, has added The University of Texas in Austin (UT Austin) and Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) to its list of partners. This move increases Kadenze’s total number of partners to 22.

UT Austin will be come the first public institution to partner with Kadenze.
For its initial offering, UT Austin will be developing two courses for Kadenze’s online platform. “Introduction to Art and Entertainment Technologies” will focus on the relationship between modern entertainment and the technology that is developed to deliver it, while “Gender, Feminism, Art & Technology” will challenge students to work collaboratively in order to explore and discuss their own privileges, disadvantages, and “ways of knowing the world.” Both courses are slated to launch in late 2016.
“Graphic Design History” will be the first MICA course developed for the Kadenze catalog. This survey course aims to take students on a fast-paced journey through the world of graphic design. Over the course of six instructional sessions, students will explore topics ranging from the effects printers played on the distribution of information to the ways avant-garde artists of the twentieth century changed the world by reinventing mass visual media. “Graphic Design History” will be taught by Brockett Horne and Ellen Lupton, and it is scheduled to launch in late 2016.
